Winners of Partnership for Sustainability Awards announced in Ukraine

Award ceremony of international sustainability held in Kyiv

UKRAINE, Kyiv, 7 December 2021 — Winners of the "Partnership for Sustainability Award" were announced in Kyiv by the UN Global Compact Network Ukraine, selected for their achievements in sustainability, peace, environmental and economic leadership. 

Nine winners were chosen to receive the award, which aims to give a boost to businesses, employees, top management and various levels of government for implementation of sustainable strategies in operational standards. 

"Today we can be really proud that our companies demonstrate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in their strategic and operational activities,” said Tatiana Sakharuk, Chief Executive Director of the UN Global Compact Network Ukraine, in remarks at the award ceremony.

In the category of Planet, the winners are BASF in Ukraine, Vodafone Turkey and AE Solar Georgia in Germany and Georgia.

In the category of People, the winners are Ukrsibbank, Osvitoria and TECHIIA Holding, all in Ukraine.

In the category of Peace, the winners are  МETRO in Ukraine, Mobile Telesystems in Belarus and Kaufland Hrvatska k.d. inCroatia. 

In the category of Prosperity, the winners are DTEK in Ukraine, Anadolu Efes in Turkey and Kernel in Ukraine.

"I am grateful to the UN Global Compact team in Ukraine, which is organizing today's event, and to the huge number of responsible businesses, represented here for discussing the development of specific areas of business and concrete steps to implement a green course in Ukraine,” said Olga Stefanishyna, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, in a welcome address.

The winners were chosen from some 100 applications from various Eastern European countries. In the four-year history of the competition, in addition to Ukraine, companies from Belarus, Macedonia, Poland, Georgia, Turkey and Croatia have participated. 

The event also featured a panel on "ESG: Understanding the Long-Term Value," with jury members Reid Steadman, Managing Director, Global Head of ESG at S&P Jones Indices, and Antonio Hautle, Executive Director of Global Compact Network Switzerland & Liechtenstein, discussing the role of ESG-metrics in understanding the long-term value of businesses.

A second panel discussion on "The Role of Partnerships in Economic Growth" featured business leaders and Government representatives of Ukraine.

The United Nations Global Compact Network Ukraine is the official representative of the UN Global Compact, which is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. It is a dialogue and training platform for businesses, investors, civil society, labor organizations, local and federal government in Ukraine.
