UK-Norway Sustainable Finance Action Platform Launch

Oslo, Norway, 27 February 2021— To deliver on the climate change agenda, the world must be clear on its strategic objectives, the shifts that are needed, and within that, the role of finance. In this perspective, the British Embassy in Oslo and the Local Networks of the United Nations Global Compact in the UK and Norway have co-organized a Sustainable Finance Action Platform. This platform aims to bring green finance to the core of the financial sectors in both countries and in British-Norwegian cooperation, by bringing together Ministers, senior policymakers, NGOs, and business and financial leaders from both the UK and Norway.

Various benefits emerge from the UK-Norway Sustainable Finance Action Platform, such as contributing to establishing public-private partnerships to scale finance and policy solutions or learning best-practices from experts on sustainable finance. Learn more about the benefits by re-watching the kick-off event here.

This leadership initiative is based on the five action tracks in the COP26 finance campaign objectives, namely:

  • Financing Global Public Commitments

  • Reporting

  • Risk Management

  • Returns

  • Mobilization

The Platform will not only focus on actionable solutions within the five pillars but also look at what regulatory framework and investment decisions are needed to fuel the zero-emission economy.

The participation for the Sustainable Finance Platform is mainly for financial institutions, research or knowledge partners and public entities. However, the action track ‘Mobilization’ is also open to companies and organizations within the Maritime sector.

Participants have the opportunity to choose which Action Tracks they would like to participate in. Each participating company/organization is expected to nominate up to two individuals who will act as their representatives and main points of contact. If a company decides to participate in more than one Action Track, the company can assign two additional representatives for each Action Track.
